Wine is the expression or, rather, the result of a collaboration among many factors. There’s the climate, which with its micro differences creates peculiar aspects on each ridge of the hills; there’s the soil, which with its composition and layers provides unique characteristics, where the roots sink and entangle; there’s the labor and passion, where strong hands and sweat follow the development of the plants through all their phenological phases.

DESCRIPTION
A peculiarity of the Altalanga is the high thermal excursion between night/day that helps to express and preserve excellent aromas of the wines. The vineyards are exposed and located on a gently sloping panettone on the SOUTH/SOUTH-EAST side of the Langhe. Monesiglio, the municipality where the vineyards are situated, is considered a mountainous area, which however enjoys a high influence from the nearby Liguria and its sea. Very typical is the wind that blows right along the valley from the sea, called märin which, thanks to the Altare gap or Cadibona hill, sneaks into the valley bringing salty notes along the valley and typical coastal temperatures.
VINEYARD MANAGEMENT
All our vineyards are set up according to the Simonit&Sirch method, four simple rules, controlled branching, continuity of flow, crown cuts, and respect wood!!!
We immediately introduced this methodology because we believe that following and accommodating, through pruning, the natural tendency of the vine to branch is the key to ensuring it a long and healthy life.

BLANC DE NOIR (CHAMPENOISE METHOD)
PIEMONTE DOC METODO CLASSICO

Harvest takes place in late August, with grape selection and thinning of the bunches.
The choice of harvest is made with particular attention to the sugar-acid balance. The base white wine requires a low pH and a sugar content that yields a wine between 10 and 11 alchool percentage.
Vinification takes place in steel tanks on clean must, at a controlled temperature (average 15 degrees) for the entire fermentation. The clean must is racked for maturation on the fine lees, until late spring, where tirage and bottling take place for the secondary fermentation and the following wine aging. We typically choose the maturation period depending on the vintage, which can range from 24, 36 months on the lees.
Light straw yellow color, pleasant in the mouth with good acidity, excellent aromas of flowers, crust of bread, good persistence in the mouth. Fine and persistent bubbles, creamy effect in the mouth.
Corks with DIAM technology.
100% Pinot Noir, Blanc de Noir.

PIEMONTE DOC PINOT NOIR

Soil composed initially of red clayey/loamy soil with a high content of iron oxides and hydroxides. A few meters down, marls begin. This part of Langa has a defined geological era, being part of the ancient Piedmont tertiary basin. Specifically, here we find the sandstones of the Rocchetta-Monesiglio formation (Miocene era: Serravallian-Tortonian).
Harvest at the end of September with selection and thinning of the grapes. Good ripening and sugar yield of the bunches, with a medium-low yield in terms of must volume, due to the very low rainfall during the summer. Vinification in steel tanks with maceration on the skins for the entire fermentation.
Drawing off and transferring of the clean for maturation in tonneaux and barriques of French origin (second passage). Aging for 8/12 months.
Wine with a light and clear ruby red color. Pleasant and soft in the mouth with high drinkability, also due to the medium-low alcohol content (13.5%).
